SIMULACRA explores the themes of technology and what it means to be human in a world that often feels artificial. Based on the meaning of the word simulacra—copies or simulations that mirror reality—this film festival focuses on how directors blur the boundaries between the real and the artificial.

Assignment
For this project I designed the identity and promotional materials for a film festival organized around the work of directors Ridley Scott and Denis Villeneuve.Process
For this project, I combined what I have learned about design up until this point. Starting with researching and selecting a title that resonated with the works of the featured directors to establish the festival’s mood and visual language. I experimented with analog and digital image-making techniques, refined typographic choices, explored color, and iterated on layouts to create a cohesive design. A key focus was a pattern layered with meaning, inviting viewers to decode deeper connections to the festival’s themes. Additionally I designed a logo that embodied the festival's core ideas. For the 30-second promotional spot, I began by hand-sequencing still frames, then finalized the piece in Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Every element was designed to communicate the festival’s intended emotions and message.Outcome
This project taught me how to use research to inform conceptual thinking and guide image-making exploration. I learned to create a flexible yet cohesive design system and apply it effectively across various media. Additionally, this experience further developed my design thinking, articulation, and presentation skills.Process Documentation
