Assignment

The assignment tasked me with typographically interpreting a short passage or keywords from two provided texts: The Crystal Goblet by Beatrice Ward (1930) and Manifesto of Futurism by F.T. Marinetti (1909).

Process

To begin, I read and analyzed the provided texts, extracting passages or key words for typographic exploration. I then typeset the chosen content, considering both practical and conceptual aspects in selecting appropriate typefaces.
Next, I conducted visual experiments, combining each quote with a different technique. Potential media included Xerox, photography, Riso printing, and video/motion. Throughout the project, I  presented two studies in each class, one for each text, refining and exploring new mediums and techniques with each iteration.

Outcome

This project provided a platform for creative exploration and experimentation. Through iterative refinement and a variety of approaches, I was able to investigate new mediums and ultimately design different visual interpretations of both Marinetti and Ward.
