Stop Motion
"Design can be art. Design can be aesthetic. Design is so simple, that’s why it is so complicated." –Paul Rand
Assignment:
Our task was to create a thirty-second stop-motion animation video interpreting a short typographic phrase. Working with a classmate we chose the quote, developed a visual language, and created a time-coded storyboard to plan the video.
Process:
Before shooting, we storyboarded the entire video to establish a clear plan. Our process included avoiding any digital manipulation beyond using a camera. Additionally, we committed to using recycled, sustainable, or environmentally friendly materials.Outcome:
This project introduced me to combining stop-motion animation and typographic design. I gained practical experience working alongside another designer to accomplish a project brief. We achieved this through iterative brainstorming and storyboarding while focusing on developing a cohesive visual language by incorporating dimension, texture, lighting, sequence, and pacing.Date: April 2024
